Across Africa, the gap between citizens and decision-makers is often wide and sometimes deliberately so. At OpenGov Africa, we are closing that gap by giving citizens the tools, data, and platforms they need to demand better governance. But here’s the truth: this mission is bigger than us. It needs people who are willing to share their skills, their time, and their voice. People like you.
Who Can Volunteer?
There is no “type” of volunteer. Whether you are a university student eager to get involved, a tech professional with a passion for open-source, an activist with stories from the field, or someone who simply believes Africa can do better you have something valuable to contribute. You don’t need to know everything about governance or policy; you just need a willingness to learn and act.

Research & Data Analysis

Tech & Development
Build and maintain open-source tools, platforms, and apps that enhance government transparency and citizen engagement.
Advocacy & Policy

Mentorship
